"I wanted to make a record that takes you on the journey of being in love," says Sunshine Anderson. "I'm not trying to give any answers - this record is just my way of telling everyone that I've been there too."

The first release issued through Atlantic's new teaming with the L.A.-based Soulife Entertainment, "YOUR WOMAN" reveals Sunshine Anderson to be a startling new talent in the midst of a dynamic artistic realization. A fresh, stirring debut, the soulful "YOUR WOMAN" finds the vocalist and songwriter tracing the highs and lows of romantic connection and dissolution, from first blush to final conflict, through a series of introspective, confessional R&B-fuelled testaments. From the powerful "Heard It All Before," the album's debut single, to the beautifully sung title track and heart-wrenching "Letting Down My Guard," Anderson ably demonstrates the skills that are sure to capture the love and affection of new fans across the country.

"Sunshine is a star through-and-through," declares Anderson's manager and fellow recording artist, Macy Gray. "She has a fabulous way of being every girl and completely unique at the same time."

"YOUR WOMAN" found the multi-talented Anderson in the studio with producer and Soulife Vice President of A&R Mike City - who last year contributed production to Carl Thomas's chart-topping "I Wish," from the RIAA platinum smash album, "EMOTIONAL." City has also earned recent acclaim for his production work on "One Woman Man," a top 10 Billboard "Hot 100 R&B/Hip Hop Singles & Tracks" chart hit from Dave Hollister.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sunshine Anderson grew up in an environment filled with love, support, and lots of music. From the beginning, Anderson's dotting parents encouraged their daughter to develop her natural gift for singing and to pursue her creative goals. "Music was, and has always been, everywhere in my life," she says. "Since my parents both have an appreciation for music, they respected my talent and nurtured it by allowing me to participate in all sorts of musical activities, like school plays, talents shows, and choir. Even as a kid, I used to spend hours rehearsing, wondering if my big break would come."

It wasn't until years later, when Anderson was attending college at North Carolina Central University, that the events that have brought her to "YOUR WOMAN" would be set in motion. "I was in line at the cafeteria, humming a tune, when a friend of Mike City's approached me saying that he absolutely knew that City would love to hear my voice" says Sunshine with a laugh. "So Mike came over; I sang for him; we became fast friends and have worked together ever since."

After graduating from NCCU with a B.S. in criminal justice, Sunshine relocated to Washington, D.C., where she took a government job in human resources. Never losing sight of her goals, however, she continued to work towards the day when she could focus on music 24-7. As fate would have it, that day wasn't far off. "I just decided it was now or never, and I had to make a decision" states Sunshine. "So I quit my job and moved out to Los Angeles, where Mike and I got to work."

"Nine years later," she continues, "with a foundation of friendship, family, and business, I realized I'd found the ideal home for my music and got to chance to make the album I'd always dreamed of." With "YOUR WOMAN," Sunshine proves true to her name, with songs like the first ray of light on a spring day.
