Your debut album "Shaun Escoffery" is only a few months old, how has the reaction been so far?
Very positive and fantastic reviews across the board regarding press. Artists who I respect highly such as Elton John and Janet Jackson have expressed how they have liked my self-titled album “Shaun Escoffery”.
All ready there´s a band new remix album out, how come?
Because of the vibe of “Days Like This” (Spinna Mix) from New York and the legendary DJ Louie Vega, I wanted to explore that area of music a little more and the re-mix album “Soulonica” has I feel definitely done that. It features artists and d.j.s such Koop, DJ Spinna, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Toshio, 4Hero and Peter Kruder.
You attempted at this years music conference in Miami, was it for promoting the remix album or both albums?
Attending the Miami Music Conference was really for me to get a vibe and to get to know people in that area. And also to push the new Soulonica album.
Did you participate in the selection of which tracks that should be on the remix album?
Not really because artists and producers are “bloody wicked” at what they do, so I trusted them to choose what they preferred and re-work it accordingly.
How is it for you to hear others versions of your songs?
At times it’s wicked and other times I think want to die !
Do you have any favorites?
“Give Everything” and “Windows”, I love them a lot!
What are you future plans regarding live performance, any chance to see you in Denmark?
This year I will be concentrating on live gigs, festivals etc., writing for the next album, working abroad and Denmark is most definitely on my gig list!
One last thing - could you do us your top 10 favorite albums of all time?
A top ten-album list does not really cover the scope of my tastes but here’s what comes to mind:
Bob Marley’s; Exodus
Marvin Gaye; Here My Dear
Meshell Ndegeocello; Peace Beyond Passion
Jimmy Hendrix; Cornerstone
Michael Jackson’s; Off The Wall
All of Donny Hathaway’s material
